This morning I sat in some despair, wading through the barrage of deeply upsetting, heartbreaking and unpalatable animal welfare materials that I subject myself to daily.
I’m not a masochist. I just feel that it’s important to not allow myself to become dulled to my purpose of trying to make a difference to the lives of animals.
For me, being a vegan is now a total ‘no brainer’. What I can’t understand is why so many of my readership still aren’t taking the plunge and going vegan themselves?
I hear from many who tell me that they are ‘trying’ but of course ‘trying’ means that they haven’t decided. I sometimes wonder if it’s simply a matter of not actually being faced with the truths of what goes on around us and is done in our name.
Surely any compassionate individual who saw the things I see and gave thought to the suffering they are implicitly condoning would not want to continue in their engrained eating habits?
I’ve also noticed how much impact pictures can create when I post them on my personal Facebook page; after all, a picture is supposedly worth a thousand words.
So in this blog, I thought I’d share a few thought provoking images with you.
Please don't be cowardly and look away. Ignoring what is happening or turning a blind eye to the fates of these poor creatures will change nothing, least of all you.
But DON’T WORRY!
I promise you that these are not the hardcore hideousness that reveals the vilest truths of the farmed animal industry.
It's actually a kind of photo essay and the pictures are just there to help you really think about what you are allowing and are be complicit in.
Afterwards, if you are NOT moved to at least go vegetarian and give up meat this very day, I’d like you to write to me in the comments section at the bottom of the page and tell me the specific reasons why you haven’t decided to pull out of animal torture and suffering.
And if you are vegetarian and haven’t yet gone vegan, I’d like you to tell me why that is too please.
I want to understand.
Think carefully and get your reasons clear in your own head.
I look forward to hearing from you.
